A basic pistol class taught by our instructors

Our Combat Pistol Training  is just the starting point of erasing the fear of the unknown or just getting to know these powerful tools and how to use them safely.  It ensures that individuals can handle guns safely and responsibly, reducing the risk of accidents and injuries.

Basic competency includes knowledge of firearm safety rules, proper handling techniques, and familiarity with the parts and functions of a gun. This is why there are so many “accidents” that occur and we at Coffee and Casings strive to end that. Having basic gun competency can mean the difference of life and death and we are going to show you that with our process, if done every time, will almost eliminate such accidents. (obviously nothing is 100% but we will get you as close as possible!)

Do you know a little about a pistol? Nothing? Want to know more or just want to be more comfortable around a firearm? This is the class to start your journey.

This is a 8 hour course split over 2 days

  • Day 1: Classroom Introduction. We will meet at a restaurant and go over the basics. Order some food and drinks while we get to know one another and get on with the paperwork. We want to make sure that you have the knowledge of the basics before we put a gun in your hand.
  • Day 2: Range Day! This is the the day where we will go out to a private outdoor range and start teaching you how to handle a firearm safely and give you tips to survive an encounter we hope will never come. We will teach you not just to shoot holes in a target, but little extra steps you can take that will give you a slight edge. No, we’re not making you the next operator, but we will do what it takes to shave off seconds so that you have the edge. This isn’t your 4 hour “put holes in target” class, this is so much more.

Our goal at the end of this class is to make sure you walk out comfortable enough to approach and handle a pistol in a safe manner as well as know the basic steps needed to defend yourself should that ever happen.

This is a small class size because we want to make sure you get as much individual attention as possible. When you leave this class you will leave with the knowledge how to make sure a pistol is safe for you and your family. Our instructor has spent years in the military and almost a decade in law enforcement so his expertise will help you get a handle on a pistol.

Note: If you already have a pistol, we welcome you to bring it so we can show you on your specific firearm how to properly use it. If not, we will have some available. 9mm ammo/hearing protection will be provided with this class and no extra charge.

This is not the beginning and end of your journey with firearms, this is simply the beginning! You can continue your journey with our Phase 2

Class Instructors

Gabe Richmond started teaching and instructing people in the early 2000’s and has over 20 years of experience in training. He has a combined almost 15 years of experience in local and federal law enforcement. His background in firearms stared when he joined the Army in 2008. After a brief deployment, he directed and conducted operations for the Department of the Army Civilian Policing (DACP) and Military Police operations on Fort Polk as the Operations Officer and Watch Commander. During that time, he received specialized military training in police weapons and tactics.

After the Army, he joined Gwinnett County Police Department (GCPD) and served as an officer for over 9 years. While serving as police officer, he received ongoing police training related to his role as a road officer. He eventually became a Master Police Officer (MPO) and a Field Training Officer (FTO) and has over 3000 logged hours of training his fellow officers. During his time as an officer, he had been involved in multiple critical indents, resulting in significant arrests and convictions. He has his Police Officer Standards and Training (POST) certification which allows him to teach and develop police related material to other officers and give credit for such training. He has since left GCPD and continued his law enforcement profession in a different capacity.

His experience as an officer and a soldier gives him a unique perspective into the functions, tactics, and principles behind the use of firearms. He has experience in multiple distinct platforms ranging from military to civilian rated weapons. As one of the instructors, he looks forward to meeting people on a personal level and helping people develop their skills and be comfortable with their firearms from the ground up.
